Connecting Your Camera

Before Color Pal can push a recipe, your camera's USB connection mode has to be set correctly — this is the most common thing that trips people up. The setting needed depends on your camera:

X-M5 and other X-Processor 5 bodies

Camera menu → NETWORK/USB SETTING → CONNECTION MODE → select USB TETHER SHOOTING AUTO.

X-T3 and other X-Processor 4 bodies

Camera menu → CONNECTION SETTING → CONNECTION MODE → select USB RAW CONV./BACKUP RESTORE.

Use a USB-C cable that supports data — the cable that came with the camera works. Some charge-only cables won't carry data, which looks identical to a connection-mode problem from the app's side.

Camera Keeps Disconnecting

A camera can drop its USB session if it goes to sleep. If pushes are unreliable or the camera keeps needing to be reconnected, set POWER MANAGEMENT → AUTO POWER OFF to OFF while you're using Color Pal.

A firmware update can silently reset the connection mode back to its default — if a camera that worked before suddenly won't connect after an update, re-check the connection mode setting above.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Color Pal work with my camera?

Color Pal supports Fujifilm cameras with a USB tethering/backup mode, including X-Processor 4 bodies (like the X-T3) and X-Processor 5 bodies (like the X-M5). Support varies by generation — see "Connecting Your Camera" above.

Why can't I push to a specific Custom Slot (C1–C7) on my X-M5?

On X-Processor 5 bodies, the active Custom Slot is chosen on the camera itself, not from the app — Color Pal applies your recipe to whichever slot the camera is currently on. On X-Processor 4 bodies (like the X-T3), Color Pal can push directly to a specific named slot.

How does sharing a project work?

Tap Share on a project to generate an invite link. The person you send it to needs Color Pal installed to open it. Once they accept, the project appears in their Projects tab, kept in sync through iCloud. See the Privacy Policy for details on how shared data is handled.

My projects aren't showing up on my other device.

Sync happens automatically through iCloud, but can take a moment. Pull down on the Projects list to force a refresh. Make sure both devices are signed into the same iCloud account with iCloud enabled for Color Pal (Settings → your name → iCloud).

Does Color Pal need an internet connection?

Photo analysis and recipe generation work fully offline. An internet connection is only needed for iCloud sync and sharing.

What is LUT export, and what's Coincidence?

Alongside a Fujifilm recipe, Color Pal can generate a standard 3D LUT (.cube file) from the same photo analysis or recipe, for use in editing software or other camera apps. If you also have Josh Hoover's Coincidence camera app installed, Color Pal can send the LUT straight into it for live use in the viewfinder — no need to export and re-import by hand.
