Overview

Color Pal is developed by Josh Hoover. This policy explains what information the app handles, where it's stored, and who can see it. Color Pal does not run ads, does not use third-party analytics or trackers, and does not sell or share your data with anyone.

Photos You Analyze

Photos you select to generate a recipe are processed entirely on your device. Color Pal never uploads a photo to any server operated by us or anyone else. If you choose to save a recipe, an optional copy of the photo is stored so you can find it again later — see "iCloud Sync" below for where that copy lives.

iCloud Sync (Your Data, Your Account)

Projects, recipes, and any photos you save are stored in your own private iCloud account, using Apple's CloudKit. This data is tied to your Apple ID and is not accessible to Josh Hoover, Color Pal, or any third party. It exists so your recipes and projects stay in sync across your own devices signed into the same iCloud account.

Sharing Projects

If you choose to share a project with another person, Color Pal uses Apple's CloudKit sharing (CKShare) to grant that specific person access to that specific project. Only people you explicitly invite can see a shared project. You can stop sharing at any time. We do not see or store who you share with.

Camera Connection

When you connect a supported Fujifilm camera to push a recipe, Color Pal communicates directly with the camera over a local USB connection. Recipe settings are sent straight to the camera body — this never passes through any external server, and no data about your camera or your recipes is transmitted anywhere else.

LUT Generation & Coincidence Integration

Color Pal can generate a 3D color LUT (a standard .cube file) from a photo's analyzed tones or from a recipe, entirely on your device. You can export this LUT yourself, or — if you also use Josh Hoover's Coincidence camera app — send it directly into Coincidence for live use in its viewfinder. This handoff happens through a local App Group container on your device; the LUT file never leaves your device or passes through any server.

What We Don't Do

Color Pal does not use third-party analytics, advertising networks, or tracking services of any kind. We don't run ads. We don't sell data. We don't have a server that stores your photos, recipes, or projects outside of your own iCloud account.

Data Deletion

You can delete any project, recipe, or photo directly in the app at any time, which removes it from your iCloud account. To delete all Color Pal data, remove the projects/recipes in-app and then delete the app — this clears its local and iCloud data associated with your account.

Children's Privacy

Color Pal does not knowingly collect information from children under the age of 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the app changes. Continued use of the app after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
